Winter is on the Way

Persephone is contemplating summer's beauty and the inevitable return of winter. Autumn has a melancholy about it in the midst of all the harvest and the bright, sunny weather that wraps itself about you as the days change and get cooler. We have the promised southerly change here today, with a spot of rain and a chilly temperature. I don't enjoy a lot about winter, though it does have its own particular charms, and I find myself sorry to see the back of Summer's skirts as she leaves the stage. It is necessary to build a little cache of memories to draw on when the days are dark and cold, something to pull out and turn over in my hands, hold up to my face to catch the faded scent of to remind myself of the summer to come.

Sunny Days

We are having a few sunny days in a row - that is supposed to come to an end tomorrow but maybe we will be lucky and we'll have another great day. It is amazing how much the weather affects my mood. This is the beginnings of an idea I am working on for a prop for some jewellery I want to display. Of course the prop will be a solid colour but at the moment I have enjoyed thinking around some of the requirements as far as shapes go, and playing a bit with the summery feeling that this selection of colours evokes.

Not Much of a Summer So Far

It hasn't been a great summer. So far. I know I was really hot at the beginning of the month, but that has pretty much been it. Good for the garden growing, not so good for ripening your tomatoes, and not good for the desired summery feeling we come to expect at this time of year! It will probably fine up once everyone goes back to school!
